One to watch - La Islaminima (Gentlewave) makes an impressive start at Compiegne

La Islaminima (Gentlewave) took revenge on two good fillies in the Prix des Cadettes on Tuesday in Compiegne. Beating the winner of the Prix d’Essai des Pouliches, Rose Amélie Has (Martaline) and the second Hello Traou Land (Hello Sunday). The Owned by Manuel Martinez, La Islaminima galloped into fourth position, still on the bit, while Rose Amélie Has took the pace to a good rhythm. She approached easily at the end of the straight, coming into the wake of the leaders.

After the final fence, she won by three lengths ahead of Rose Amélie. Guillaume Macaire, trainer of both La Islaminima and Rose Amélie Has, said: “It is not just the difference in weight that made the difference between the two fillies. At this age and this time of year, one can not be categorical. The two fillies are equal. The Islaminima is brilliant in the morning and I had not been able to work her as I would have wished before the start.”

Winner of the second Pouliches Test Prize, Artemidor (Anabaa Blue) finished third in front of Hello Traou Land. From the family of Isle Enchantée and bred by François-Marie Cottin, La Islaminima is a daughter of Gentlewave and Grenadines Island (Red Bonnet), placed three times in an obstacle. She is her dam’s second winner after Thirteen Thirteen (Dream Well), who was the first winner of the association “Manuel Martinez & Guillaume Macaire”. The second dam of La Islaminima, Manson Island (Mansonnien) won the Prix Nivolet in Enghien. She produced two winners: Great Pretender and Madonna Island (Great Pretender). It is the family of Isle Enchantée (Trempolino), winner of the Prix de Chambly and Magne (Ls) and Lucky Island (Soldier of Fortune), winner of four races in obstacle.
