Winter Millions winner heads quintet for Pether's Moon

What’s that saying about London busses??!! Well having cheered home Yorton homebred PETHER’S LANE (4yo G) on New Years Day in the Bumper at Exeter for Jane Williams, Pether’s Moon fired in a bolt of five winners from consecutive runners last weekend to maintain his nigh-on 50% strike rate of winners to runners.

Having feasted on some exceptional racing over the festive period, the NH fraternity turned their focus to the Berkshire Winter Millions series held at Windsor & Ascot. Taking home some of the lucrative prizemoney on offer were connections of TITAN DISCOVERY (7yo G) (above) who scooped up a first prize of £34,000 in the class 2 Weatherbys Racing Bank H’Cap Hurdle over 3 miles for trainer Robbie Llewellyn who described this as his biggest winner yet. The son of Pether’s Moon features his breeders Kevin & Anne Glastonbury amongst the group of successful connections who celebrated with their trainer in front of the ITV camera’s.

Another son of the Yorton resident also graced the winners enclosure in front of the ITV camera’s with UNCLE BERT gaining his fifth career success at Haydock’s Peter Marsh meeting on 18/1/25. Trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies on behalf of breeders James & Jean Potter, Uncle Bert seemed to relish the step back up in trip to 3 miles & has now been in the placings in 12 of his 20 career runs to date.

The Potter/Twiston-Davies combo were successful again on Monday (20/1/25) with another homebred, I AM THE MOON winning the 2m 3f novice hurdle at Warwick with a dominant front running display. The first foal out of the Gr.1 placed mare Midnight Tour, the 6yo was having only her fourth career start & is another by her sire who looks to have bundles of promise together with a tough attitude which is becoming synonymous with progeny of Pether’s Moon.

FOURS UP FOR NIGEL!

Along with Uncle Bert & I Am The Moon, Nigel Twiston-Davies alongside his son & assistant Willy provided a further two winners for Pether’s Moon over the weekend. With the Potter’s having bred the two aforementioned, NTD turned breeder himself with MAVIS PIKE winning the novice h’cap hurdle at Fakenham on 19/1/25 under James Turner. The 6yo mare was winning for the second time this season although the Cotswold trainer is unlikely to expand on his current breeding operation, both equine & human!!

The quintet is completed by the now five time winner SAFE DESTINATION (7yo G) who took the H’cap chase at Taunton over 2m 7f on 18/1/25. Another hombred by Yorton in conjunction with Art world supremo Glenn Rowles, the son of Leighton Lass is proving a model of consistency having won three of his last four races this season.

As we creep closer to the start of the 2025 covering season, Pether’s Moon along with his stud mates Gentlewave, Ito & Postponed are available to view by appointment at Yorton. Please feel free to get in touch with any queries.
