Goffs Yorton Sale Celebrates Vibrant Return

Following a one-year break, the Goffs Yorton Sale made a vibrant return to the sale calendar in Wales today with a pair of Doctor Dino 2YOs headlining solid trade from start to finish.

The sale attracted a large audience once again and the buyers sheet showed a healthy mix of purchasers with pinhookers, PTP handlers, owners and trainers all securing NH 2YOs. Of the 33 horses offered, all were sold, and action in the ring was headlined by the Doctor Dino 2YO Doctor Green (Lot 20) who was purchased by Paul Cowley’s Vanquish Bloodstock for £105,000.

Earlier in the sale, it was another Doctor Dino 2YO (Lot 13) which led proceedings, a half-brother to the L. winner and Gr.3 placed Imperial Mag, which was knocked down to Dai Walters for £95,000. Others to feature in today’s successful return were the Nathaniel filly out of a half-sister to the Gr.1 winner Teahupoo (Lot 12) who was sold to Mags O’Toole for £65,000, and a Walk In The Park filly out of Tikinik, an own sister to the Gr.1 winner Bravemansgame, which was purchased by Lews House Stud for £60,000.

A gelding from the first crop of Wonderful Moon (Lot 31) was another to turn heads later in the sale when selling to Peter Molony’s Rathmore Stud for £58,000.

Yorton Farm owner David Futter commented:

“It’s great to be back and it’s great to see such a wide cross section of buyers securing NH 2YOs. Today was the sixth edition of the sale and it has had a very strong run of results, producing 68 winners and counting which are headlined by two Grade 1 winners – Inthepocket and Redemption Day.

“Our vision when we started this sale was to get NH horses into work earlier and since then we have seen 3YO hurdle race programmes launched in the UK and Ireland which is wonderful to see. Following that, we have seen a good number of 2YOs bought by owners and trainers this year which is fantastic and hopefully these horses will be seen in those 3YO races next year.

“We would like to extend a huge thanks to Goffs and everyone who has supported us in this endeavour, many of which are repeat customers, it’s their support which allows us to do what we love – breed quality racehorses. We wish the buyers all the very best with their purchases and hope to see another Grade 1 winner among them.”

Goffs UK Managing Director Tim Kent commented:

“This sale has become an established outlet for NH 2YOs and it’s wonderful to see it back on the sale calendar. David and the Yorton team have done a wonderful job once again in putting this sale together, the horses have received praise from everyone here today and the stud looks fabulous, and a 100% clearance rate speaks volumes to the quality on offer here today.

“We wish to pass on our sincere thanks to the Futter family for continuing to partner with Goffs for this unique event and we look forward to the 2026 edition!”
