Two new flag flyers for Yorton resident & favourite Pether’s Moon brought the King’s coronation weekend to a close.
MOON CHIME (5yo Gelding) (pic above credit Nigel Kirby) was bred by Will Kinsey under his Peel Bloodstock banner who sold him as a 3yo to Graeme McPherson. Trained in Gloucestershire by Fergal O’Brien, he was making his debut in the Bumper at Worcester & stuck to his task well when challenged to score by over 2Ls at the line. Connections reported afterwards that the Pether’s Moon gelding had been showing plenty ability at home & he may show up again soon under a penalty.

Over in Ireland, Donnchadh Doyle produced LA VEGA MOON to win his Maiden Point-to-Point at Grennan on Sunday afternoon (7/5/23). Ridden by Brian Lawless, the well bred 5yo produced a superb round of jumping with P2P.ie commenting afterwards “he had unseated when well fancied for a four-year-old auction maiden at Ballycrystal back in October and the son Pether’s Moon showed a good attitude and turn of foot as he winged the last and ran down Inca close home. He looks a useful type.”
Out of a sister to the high class mare Nadiya De La Vega, this athletic type had been unlucky on his previous run at at Ballycrystal last Autumn when unseating on the final circuit having been placed third on his debut in April last year.
