Pether's into gear quickly as NH season warms up

To any serious NH racing fan, seeing the leaves start to fall & the ground soften underfoot, is filled with excitement as it can only mean…. ‘The Jumps are Back’ & one Yorton resident has clearly got the message.

PETHER’S MOON has started the season in great form with 5 winners over the last couple weekends bringing his overall tally to 20 individual winners from 55 runners! Not bad for a sire whose eldest stock are only 6yo’s this season & facing into the bigger obstacles for the first time.

UNCLE BERT is one of those 6yo’s & having been ultra consistent last season, scored impressively at Perth (27/9/23) by 12Ls for Nigel & Sam Twiston-Davies in the James & Jean Potter silks. He will now head to Chepstow’s prestigious two day ‘Season Opener’ meeting this coming weekend. Not to let the family name down, Uncle Bert’s younger brother JAZZ MOON scored across the channel in France on Sunday (8/10/23) following up his victory two weeks earlier for Champion trainer Francois Nicolle. Another son of Pether’s Moon to start where he left off last season is MOON CHIME (pictured above with winning connections) who landed the Bumper at Stratford (9/10/23) whilst carrying a penalty by 7Ls for the new training axis of David Killahena & Graeme McPherson. The 5yo was bred by Will Kinsey’s Peel Bloodstock & is now unbeaten from two starts with his trainer commenting afterwards that the athletic type had been working extremely well at home & will head for better things.

SAFE DESTINATION made his reappearance at Uttoxeter (8/10/23) & on only his second start over fences, romped home by 4Ls to secure yet another winner for the Twiston-Davies team who, like the sire, are in flying form at this stage of the season. A Yorton homebred & previous Irish Point-to-Point graduate, connections believe chasing is the making of him & have no doubt there is more to come for the 5yo.

On the same card, the Karina Casini homebred filly, LUNA DORA was touched off by a couple of lengths on her first run back in the Handicap Hurdle having already won in April for Tom Symonds.

Continuing the Irish Point-to-Point theme, LA VEGA MOON made his debut for John ‘Shark’ Hanlon at Loughrea last weekend (8/10/23) winning by 12Ls to gain a P2P.ie rating of 93+ who further commented “This lightly-raced sort should progress even further from this initial run at winners level and should easily garner more winners races whilst he should also make his mark over fences in time inside the rails.
