Winners Galore For Yorton Graduates

Yorton graduates have continued their early season form & as we look forward to all the ‘Spring Festival’ meetings in the UK & Ireland kicked off by the iconic Cheltenham Festival.

With the whistle having blown for the start of the 2024 breeding season last week, previous graduates continued to do their talking on the track which included THREE winners for Pether’s Moon.

TITAN DISCOVERY (pictured above) was bred by Kevin & Anne Glastonbury who are huge supporters of Yorton so we were all delighted to cheer home the son of Pether’s Moon at Sandown on 15/2/24. The homebred 6yo now boasts some impressive form figures having not been first or second in all bar one of his seven career starts. His latest victory on Thursday was impressive & the Racing Post commented afterwards Titan Discovery continued on the up back on soft ground with his best effort yet, winning with a fair bit in hand. He’ll likely stay further and is the type to win again. .

MOONLIT POTTER provided another Owner/Breeder with success after the 6yo mare carried the James & Jean Potter silks to victory in the Maiden Hurdle at Lingfield on 13/2/24 on his third career start. Trained locally to Yorton by Henry Daly & also by resident stallion Pether’s Moon she hails from the family of Denman, Potterman & Viena Court.

The third winner for Pether’s Moon was trained across the Irish Sea by Gavin Cromwell with STAGECOACH MARY winning at Thurles over hurdles in the colours of the Dundara Syndicate. Also a 6yo, she had to dig deep at the finish to battle back having been headed at the final flight & duly showed a determined attitude to score with the front pair coming well clear of the field.

CHIEF ON TARGET FOR GENTLEWAVE

SENIOR CHIEF looks to be a horse to keep the right side of having won for the first time over fences at Punchestown on 18/2/24 for Henry de Bromhead. Bred by Liz Lucas of Swanbridge Bloodstock, the 7yo was running off a mark of 142 having run in some highly competitive races previously against the likes of Gaelic Warrior & Minella Cocooner and deserved this success. Connections have always thought chasing would be his game & the son of Gentlewave will be watched closely throughout the season.

MAJESTIC ANOTHER ONE IN THE BAG FOR POSTPONED

The Stuart Edmunds trained filly, MAJESTIC JAMEELA provided Yorton new boy Postponed with another winner over obstacles at Plumpton on 12/2/24. An ultra consistent filly who hails from her sires second crop had won by 14Ls towards the end of last year & doubled her tally with this victory. She looks sure to venture into the winners enclosure again soon & still only a 4yo, she will no doubt continue to improve over obstacles.

YORTON GRADUATES

The Yorton Sale has consistently pumped out winners & the most recent to strike were BUACHAILLBOCHT, who looks very exciting having won again at Punchestown in the JP McManus silks for trainer Ted Walsh. A son of Blue Bresil, the 6yo was bred by Yorton & sold as a foal & now looks an exciting addition for the Green & Gold battalion of his Owner. NICK THE GREEK (5yo Clovis Du Berlais) was sold at the 2021 edition of the Yorton Sale & won on his first run for new trainer Jake Coulson at Southwell on 18/2/24. On the same afternoon, another Yorton Sale graduate, LA QUARITE (4yo Seahenge) was just touched of by a neck at Musselburgh for trainer Iain Jardine & Owners Donna & David Armstrong. Well clear of the rest, he looks like he will be making a trip to the winners enclosure in the very near future.
