More graduates of the Yorton academy found their way into the only place that really matters on a racecourse, the winners enclosure, to continue some fine form as we head into Cheltenham next week.
It was no surprise that progeny of resident stallion PETHER’S MOON featured amongst the winners given his recent glut of successes with UNCLE BERT (above) scoring smartly at Wetherby on 29/2/24 for trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies in the James & Jean Potter silks. This was his third career victory over hurdles & he will look to add to that tally before tackling larger obstacles down the line for this attractive homebred.

A daughter of Pether’s Moon broke her duck at Huntingdon on 3/3/24 with LEXIE’S MOON scoring over hurdles for Towcester based trainer Laura Horsfall. The 6yo mare, who also collected a lucrative GBB bonus, outjumped her rivals throughout to win nicely with the front pair coming well clear of the field under Alex Edwards.

The aforementioned Edwards was also in the saddle for another Yorton sired winner in the shape of MIXEDWAVE who gained his fourth win over fences for classic winning trainer Pam Sly. A son of Yorton stalwart GENTLEWAVE, the 7yo gelding was bred by Sly & looks set to continue his rise up the ratings.

WRECKLESS ERIC (below) looked one to follow when finishing second on his debut effort a few weeks ago & the Ben Pauling trained 4yo backed that run up by scoring impressively at Wetherby in a NH Junior Hurdle series race on 29/3/24. A son of former resident MASTERSTROKE, the James & Jean Potter homebred was sold at the 2022 Yorton Sale as a 2yo & having been well touted by his trainer, he looks to be an exciting recruit for his owners Andrew & Jane Megson.
